If youve ever wondered where all of the valuable tips, advice and secrets in Golf Vacation Insider come from, read this revealing interview with our publisher and editor-in-chief, David Baum, recently posted on Golf Club Atlas, a fantastic golf architecture website.
In it, David explains the fascinating concept of Golf Odyssey, our sister publication which is responsible for the golf travel tips we bring you each week. A printed newsletter published monthly for 15 years, Golf Odyssey is the only golf travel publication in the world that reviews courses and resorts anonymously, does not accept advertising from them, and refuses any type of press discounts or freebies.
David, who has likely logged more air miles than 95 percent of the worlds population, also shares some of the hidden gems he and the staff have discovered while crisscrossing the globe and which properties have rated highest (and lowest) on Golf Odysseys proprietary rating scale. He was also convinced to divulge the names of a few destinations that will be included in upcoming issues of Golf Odyssey.
Even if you skip the interview, Golf Club Atlas is worth a visit for its other great content, which could be helpful in planning a golf vacation. In addition to detailed architecture reviews and photos of great golf courses, there are discussions about design and playing strategy with some of the worlds most famous golf course architects (such as Pete Dye, Tom Doak, Bob Cupp and Bill Coore) and some of golfs best-known authors.
If its true that you are judged by the company you keep, consider us flattered beyond belief.
