Windage: You be the judge.

On Monday, we told you about one of “The Good” golf vacation products we saw at the recent PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla. Now, let’s move on to “The Bad.”
It’s called Windage, and we saw it while browsing the show’s “New Product Center,” a maze-like area with unmanned, tabletop displays that are a stark contrast to the expensive and elaborate showrooms that now constitute most “booths.”
Windage is a plastic, golf-ball shaped container that, when squeezed, emits a visible puff of “environmentally friendly” powder that you can use to judge wind speed and direction. Not a bad idea, in and of itself, particularly when you’re on a golf vacation and can use all the shot information you can get.
So, when we label this product as “bad,” we don’t mean to imply that it doesn’t work. We’re sure it does. But, we’re guessing that demand for this doodad will be, well, less than good.
The main problem is that there’s an existing invention that does the exact same thing. It’s called grass.
