Unusual items are up for auction in Boston.

If you dont mind playing golf in temperatures around 50 degrees Fahrenheit, next weekend would be a great time to take a Boston golf vacation.
Thats because (in addition to the lack of rain in the forecast) on Friday, April 20, Bonhams & Butterfields will be conducting a public auction of some of the most rare, interesting and historically significant golf memorabilia you may ever get to see.
The auction will be held 15 minutes southwest of Boston in Brookline, Mass., at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum. In addition to the paintings of Nicholas Leaskou (1930-2003), whose work was commissioned by top tour players and national golf magazines, the auction will feature early and unusual golf clubs (including a Peter McEwan long-nose driver that could fetch $5,000) and featherie and gutta percha golf balls.
We browsed the online catalog and found even more unusual items such as: a movie poster from Follow the Sun, the 1951 film about Ben Hogan; an original receipt dated 1893 from Old Tom Morris golf shop; signed scorecards from Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Payne Stewart; and a host of golf-themed jewelry, glassware, trophies, ashtrays, and other knick-knacks that likely made their way to the auction block via estate or bankruptcy sales. Many of the lots are expected to sell for as little as $100-$200.
All of the items will be on display for previews starting on Thursday, April 19 at noon, with the sale beginning the following day at 4pm. Even if you cant arrange a Boston golf vacation in time, you can view the items online and, once you register, submit absentee bids (via email or fax) or participate live via telephone.
